The benefits of SmartBarf
A number of ingredients have insecticidal, antiseptic, antifungal or antibiotic properties eg aniseed, fennel, mint, oregano, sage, thyme.
Other ingredients were chosen for their gastro-intestinal effects, including digestion, breath freshening & flatulence, as a prebiotic and improved liver performance eg aniseed, beetroot, caraway, carrot, evening primrose, hawthorn, locust bean, milk thistle, mint, nigella.
Still others were chosen for their ability to improve memory, reduce stress & anxiety and to calm eg apple, basil, hawthorn, poppy, pumpkin, sage, walnut.
There are those that have significant levels of vitamins (A, B, C, E and K), or of trace elements (calcium, chromium, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, zinc) eg asparagus, banana, brazil nuts, broccoli, linseed, millet, perilla, poppy, pumpkin, rosehips, seaweed or of growth factors eg safflower, sesame, sunflower
Some ingredients have a good range of antioxidants, amino acids and omega oils eg apricots, basil, broccoli, camelina, goji, hemp, mint, niger, parsley, perilla, poppy, prunes, tomato or are themselves the source of supplements eg Coenzyme Q10 comes from peanuts and L-Tryptophan is extracted from pumpkin.
Finally, perhaps because of their phytocompounds, some appear to improve energy levels by impacting the lungs or the heart eg asparagus, basil, beetroot, chickpea, dates, oregano, peanuts, perilla, sunflower, walnut.
